Continuing from my earlier post, in this part, I have selected 15 very popular ' Mein or Mera' or 'Hum aur Hamara' songs of the 1960s. The first song on my list is 'Mera Naam Raju Gharana Anaam' from the 1960 film 'Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behati Hai'(1960), sung by Mukesh for Raj Kapoor. The song is sung by Mukesh and it is picturized on Raj Kapoor as a boat song. The song is an introduction song where Raj Kapoor, carrying a “Dafli” introduces himself by singing this song. This film has two more songs 'Ho Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Hum Bhi Hain Tum Bhi Ho' in this theme.

Why Bollywood is Lagging Behind on Films on Environment ?

  India is the biggest producer of films in the world but very few films are made on this subject. The Government of India introduced an award  for Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation  in 1989 to encourage films in this genre. The first film awarded on this subject was an Assamese Film 'Bonani'  directed by Jahnu Barua. S ince its inception, the award has been present only nineteen times to unique films. It has been presented for films in eight languages with the highest being six in Malayalam, followed by five in Kannada, two each in Assamese and Odia, and one each in Bodo, Manipuri, Marathi, and Tamil. The first Bollywood film on this subject awarded was 'Irada' in 2017 directed by Aparna Singh starring Naseeruddin Shah. The same year another film . The Super Hit Combination of Hemant Kumar, Dada Burman and Dev Anand

   In the early 50s,  Dev Saab didn’t believe in making one singer his ‘voice’ and juggled between  Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mehmood,  Hemant Kumar,  and Kishore Kumar.  The super hit combination of Dev with Hemant Kumar under the music direction of Dada Burman gave many Immortal Romantic Songs. He became the romantic voice of Dev Anand.  He sang only 16 songs as playback for Dada Burman and 10 of those were on Dev Anand and all of them were hits. What a stupendous record. Hemant Da in an interview said that it was S D Burman who understood the potential of his voice.The  romantic pairing of my voice with his (Dev Anand’s) screen image was created by Sachin Babu (SD Burman).
