50 Years of Parichay

  Parichay  is a 1972 film released on 20th October. The film was  partially inspired by the 1965 movie  The Sound of Music . It is directed by Gulzar who changed the looks ans screen image of Jeetendra who by that time was called the Jumping Jack. It is a feel-good film unlike other 70s Masala Movies with a hero who bashes people. It stars Jeetendra, Jaya Bhaduri and Pran in the lead role, Sanjeev Kumar and Vinod Khanna are as guest and special appearance  The story is about a misunderstanding between a father Rai Saheb and son Sanjeev Kumar who wants to pursue a career in singing and also marry the girl of his choice but his father was not agreeble so Sanjeev Kumar leaves the home and maries the girl of his choice.   Released on 15th September 1972, Shor  is a beautiful collage of emotions.    A tale of a father and son coping after a tragic accident, and how their misfortunes affect them.The film was  written, produced and directed and edited by  Manoj Kumar , who also plays the lead role in the film. The highlight of this film is its music, composed by  Laxmikant-Pyarelal.    “Ek Pyaar Ka Naghma Hai”, written by Santosh Anand and sung in different versions by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh. It plays throughout the film, and retains its chartbuster status till date.  The  other songs, like “Jeevan Chalne Ka Naam” and “Paani Re Paani” stand out for their sheer brilliance.   Manoj Kumar  who plays  Shankar   loses his wife Nanda  in an accident.   Jawani Diwani  was released on 14th July 1972, It was a musical romance film directed by Narender Bedi, and starring Randhir Kapoor, and Jaya Bhaduri, A landmark movie primarily because of RD Burman's fast, pounding and melodious score.  The movie was a hit despite the unusual and forgettable pairing of Randhir and Jaya.Bhaduri.  It was an era when music was the dominating element and enlisting Rahul Dev Burman for the job ensured half the battle was won After Hare Rama Hare Krishna it was once again Asha Bhosle was at her best combined with Kishore Kumar.   One year after the release of Anand, this film 'Bawarchi' remains a  special collaboration of  Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Rajesh Khanna.   Bombay To Goa completed 50 years, was released on 3rd March 1972. It  was Amitabh Bachchan’s big break and the beginning of his illustrious career in the film industry over the span of 4 decades or more. The  film was directed by  S. Ramanathan , starring  Mehmood ,  Amitabh Bachchan , and  Aruna Irani , with  Shatrughan Sinha  in a supporting role.    Mehmood and brother Anwar Ali were the principal players in this comedy that gave Amitabh Bachchan his first big break as the hero of  a movie .  What makes Bombay to Goa memorable is, as the title itself suggests, the bus journey from Bombay to Goa in which the majority of the story actually takes place.
